Información de este libro electrónico

The Yoga and Chakras of Business (YCB) provides a holistic and comprehensive view to streamline businesses and organizations through yoga and chakras knowledge. It is postulated that in every business or organization, the chakras that exist in each human being are manifested. As a result, a business will achieve its greatest success and development when considering, developing and aligning the energies related to all chakras. This view is based on concepts of yoga philosophy and the chakras, which understand that people are composed of different planes or dimensions that must be worked and balanced to achieve their development.
The Yoga and Chakras of Business:
• Explains the core elements of yoga and chakras philosophy,
• Goes through each chakra, highlighting their main properties and functions,
• Analyses how each chakra may manifest at the business level, presenting the main characteristics and functions associated with each one inside an organization, as well as delivering cases that may be related to a (good or bad) functioning business,
• Explains the steps to map, open and connect business chakras, with the aim of improving business performance and development.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    1. INTRODUCTION

The Yoga and Chakras of Business (hereafter YCB) is a hybrid concept that seeks to understand and support businesses and organizations by using concepts of yoga. Two elements of yogic philosophy form the backbone of YCB: the meaning of yoga and the chakra system. First, it is the original meaning of the word ‘yoga,’ which permeates the whole philosophy of this discipline. Yoga means joining or integrating elements that have been scattered or set apart. Thus, for example, the mind-body balance idea has been coined by the practice of yoga. On another level, yoga seeks to unite the material, terrestrial and human dimensions of each person with their spiritual, superior and superhuman dimensions.

Yoga seeks the union of the finite with the infinite that is manifested in each individual

The second fundamental element of YCB is the chakra system. Chakras are part of the yogic philosophy of human anatomy at the energetic level. They are defined as centers or wheels of energy located mainly along the spine, each one of them related to different human functions. Thus, the traditional view of yoga identifies seven chakras in every human being. These energy centers are directly linked to the physical organs located in their field of action, mirroring the quality and balance of these organs and their respective biological functions.

The practice of yoga allows aligning the energies of the chakras through the harmonious integration of all facets and planes of the human being

Just as yoga is a science learned and understood through its direct and frequent practice, YCB does not aspire to be a concept that can be fully understood only from a theoretical or conceptual perspective. Here, concepts serve as a general scheme aligned with what the practical experiences may confirm in order to reach a deeper knowledge. To support this process, while reading the book the reader is invited to observe businesses and organizations from the YCB perspective.

The main purpose of the book is to apply the philosophy of yoga and chakras to businesses and organizations, which requires exposing and introducing the reader to key concepts of a philosophy originating from the east, as well as understanding basic features of businesses and organizations. Due to yoga and business and organizations are vast and widely studied disciplines this book will not delve into each one of them. Instead, as it was mentioned before, the book will focus on exploring the suitability of yoga and chakras knowledge to support organizations. For the interested reader, the bibliography referenced at the end of the book presents texts that go deeper into yoga, as well as into businesses and organizations.

The applicability of yoga philosophy to businesses and organizations is not limited by the complexity of the human groups involved. In this sense, it will be possible to apply yogic concepts to cases of single-person ventures as well as to large corporations. The aforementioned possibility is explained by the hypothesis underlying the present work: it is possible to apply the understanding of processes occurring at the individual level to phenomena involving groups of people. The implicit assumption is that energies that exist and act within each person have their correlate in larger systems formed by groups of people. Hence, different social organizations may show types of energies or chakras (to be defined later) with different degree of balance and development, as occurs in each individual. The previous is a common idea within Eastern philosophies, in terms that the human microcosm reflects the macrocosms external to it.

The energies that exist and act within each person have their correlate in larger systems formed by groups of people

Since in any organization formed by people the chakras or energy planes of each person are present, an organization will achieve its greatest success and development if it considers, develops and aligns all these energies. For instance, eminently intellectual organizations, such as universities or study centers, must consider and balance basic human dimensions such as instincts and emotions (associated with lower chakras). Charitable, altruistic or spiritual organizations must also consider and balance elements related to basic human needs, such as survival, financing, and so on. Productive businesses must also consider the higher dimensions of its collaborators, related for instance to their intellectual and spiritual planes, etc.

In every business or organization, the chakras in each human being are manifested

A business will achieve its greatest success and development when considering, developing and aligning the energies related to all chakras

The YCB approach, which will be described in detail later in the book, visualizes business success in terms of the long-term development of all its stakeholders, and the business owners. Furthermore, people (clients, workers, suppliers, managers, etc.) are the core of any definition of business or organizational success for YCB.

People (clients, workers, suppliers, managers, etc.) are the core of any definition of business or organizational success for YCB

Currently, yoga has reached all walks of life, covering the different needs of individuals, from their physical condition, to stress management techniques and meditation skills. In its immensity and richness, yoga has been applied to specific groups of people such as babies, children, pregnant women, couples, older adults, etc. Different yoga styles have emerged, allowing men and women to incorporate yoga practice into their daily lives. As a result, yoga has provided a concrete path for the development and balance of individuals.

Yoga has provided a concrete path for the development and balance of individuals

Is it possible to ask for anything more to yoga and its related philosophy? Is there any additional relevant use of yoga that can be put into practice in daily life? YCB is an affirmative answer to the previous questions by stating that yoga knowledge can help balance, develop and align the functioning of groups of individuals, contributing to the existence of more successful businesses and organizations.

Yoga philosophy can help balance, develop and align businesses and organizations

Just as yoga produces tangible results in the well-being of individuals after a few months of practice, the YCB approach aims to positively influence any business or organization performance as long as its principles are applied and practiced systematically during a sufficient period of time. For example, a tangible result can be an increase in the profitability of the business or in workers´ job satisfaction, or in customers and suppliers loyalty.

The present book was written with the conviction that YCB
