• The Triumph and Shame of Christianity in Power: CHAPTER 1 •
The theological formulations of the last centuries (especially, liberal theology of the 19th century) has often dissociated the “historical Jesus” from the “Christ of faith”. This way of looking at things usually considers the theology and history of Christianity after the life of Jesus as having little to do with its founder. But I would like to propose another hypothesis. I believe that there are plenty of reasons to point to the continuity between the life of Jesus (centered on the announcement of the Kingdom of God) and the early Church’s experience (centered on the announcement of the Lordship of Christ). Through the renewed relationships between believers, there is now a new community of justice and peace, which is still materializing.
