She grew up in New York and now lives in South Florida. Lama Karma Chötso began to study and practice the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in March 1982 after meeting Kalu Rinpoche in New York City. Four years later he ordained her as a novice nun; Lama Karma Chötso then entered the three-year, three-month secluded meditation retreat at the monastery in upstate New York. She completed the retreat in 1990 after which she traveled on pilgrimage numerous times in India, Nepal and Tibet. Having relocated to South Florida in 1996, Lama Karma Chötso founded the first Dharma center of the Kagyu Lineage in the state. Seven years later she purchased a property in Miami where the center was relocated. There, the sangha built four 12-foot Tibetan stupas that were consecrated in December 2012. Lama Karma Chötso has lectured and taught in venues such as Sunshine Cathedral, St. Thomas University, Barry University, Florida International University, Wonderwell Retreat (NH), Nalanda West, and overseas in Peru and the Bahamas. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Interfaith Council of Greater Hollywood, serving as President for one year; volunteered as a Professional Volunteer Chaplain for Hospice Care of Broward County; and taught meditation and Tai Qi to the inmates at Broward Correctional Facility. In Peru, where she visits annually, the sangha has built a fifty-foot stupa in an area east of the Andes called ‘la selva’ or jungle. Lama Karma Chötso’s book of poetry, Dances of Dreams, was published in 2007. After retiring from teaching in the U.S. in 2023, Lama Karma Chötso relocated to Kent, Washington where she lives near her family with her dog, Sengay, and two cats, Travieso and Nefertiti. Jennifer DiMarco is a leader in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with over thirty years of experience. She began her career as a bench chemist, obtained an MBA as she moved into sales and marketing and, over the last twenty years, focused on the quality and compliance disciplines within the industry where she earned a second Master’s degree in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Her experience spans ten top pharma companies, startup biotech companies and starting her own consulting business. Being of service to others is Jen’s passion. She’s built houses and playgrounds, feed the hungry, raised money and was a founding member of the Philadelphia chapter of Survivors of Suicide. Painting, crafting, and sewing help keep her centered but her favorite project was creating Cards Against Urbanity with a close friend. Sarah was born in Great Britain and moved to the U.S. with her family when she was thirteen. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee. Sarah moved to Washington D.C. in 1988 to live the city lifestyle and work as an urban designer in the private sector for over twenty-five years. She moved to New England in 2015 and now has a second career as a public sector planner in the Boston area. She and John are happily married, living the country life in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, and constantly talking about retiring to the coast of Maine.

Tú Mentira Causó Mucho Dolor

Esta historia empezó cuando yo tenía tan sólo 15 años de edad. Es la historia de una mujer enamorada pero desilusionada. Espero y esta historia ayude a ciertas personas a reflexionar sobre las mentiras y sus daños.

Una bella tarde al salir de la preparatoria tuve unas inmensas ganas de hablarle a un muchacho. Él se miraba bastante serio, moreno y muy guapo. Él me llamo mucho la atención. Ese día me presenté y le dije mi nombre: Mucho gusto, él sonriendo me contesto y me dijo: Me llamo Damián, mucho gusto. Empezamos a platicar y juntos caminábamos a casa después de clases. Finalmente, un día Damián se animó y me pregunto si quería ser su novia. De ahí en adelante comenzó el supuesto noviazgo.

El noviazgo duró tan solo 8 meses. Sin embargo, yo como cualquier mujer me enamore como loca de él. Pensé que él era el amor de mi vida. Al terminar la preparatoria, Damián me dio la mala noticia de que se regresaría a Juárez, México. Damián no tenía los documentos necesarios para poder trabajar en los Estados Unidos. Para ese tiempo yo ya era una mujer completamente enamorada de él. Yo le supliqué a Damián que no se fuera y que se quedara conmigo. ¿Que podría hacer esta loca enamorada para que el amor de su vida no se fuera y no perderlo? Le inventé a mi pobre madre que yo ya había tenido relaciones íntimas con él. Lo amo Madre, él es mi vida y me quiero casar con él. Mi madre era una mamá soltera y no había nada que no me cumpliera. Fue así como continuo nuestra relación.

Inicio de la relación verdadera

Empecé a vivir con Damián, el amor de mi vida, en el año 1997. El primer año como en todos los matrimonios fue tiempo de conocernos el uno al otro. Después del primer año empecé a notarlo muy extraño. Empecé a notar que Damián no tenía mucho interés en mi como mujer. No me deseaba como su esposa, como la mujer que yo pensaba ser para él. Empecé a cuestionarme miles de cosas. Cosas como si así debía ser el matrimonio. Damián nunca me besaba, era rara la vez que lo hacía y la intimidad era casi inexistente. Aun cuando pasaban los años yo continuaba feliz y muy enamorada de él. A tan sólo la edad de 18 años decidí que era tiempo de darle fruto a nuestro amor y darle un hijo a Damián. Y así fue. Aún recuerdo el preciso momento de cuando le di la noticia a Damián. Él estaba muy contento y me dijo hacerlo el hombre más feliz del mundo. Gracias, Serenity, repetía Damián. Yo como toda una mamá que adoraba a su bebé dejé la preparatoria y me dediqué a mi esposo y mi hijo por nacer. Al igual empezamos los trámites para que Damián pudiera vivir en los Estados Unidos y para que pudiera trabajar. Aun siendo menores de edad, nuestros padres firmaron permisos para así nosotros poder unirnos en matrimonio legalmente. Sin embargo, al poco tiempo regresaron a Damián a Juárez. Como yo estaba dispuesta a todo por Damián, lo seguí. Era una guerra entre ir y venir a México. Aun así, yo hacia todo lo posible por verlo, pues para mí él era el amor de mi vida. Que cosa no hacía
