Información de este libro electrónico

A new Spanish and English bilingual edition of the stunning picture book biography of Pablo Neruda, one of the world's most enduring and popular poets, from the acclaimed Monica Brown.

Once there was a little boy named Neftalí who loved wild things wildly and quiet things quietly. From the moment he could talk, he surrounded himself with words, seeking comfort and inspiration from the magic he discovered between the pages of books.

When he was sixteen, he began publishing his writing as Pablo Neruda. Pablo wrote poems about the things he loved—things made by his friends in the café, things found at the marketplace, and things he saw in nature. He wrote about the people of Chile and their stories of struggle. Because above all things and above all words, Pablo Neruda loved people.

With a new translation of Monica Brown's lyrical text and Julia Paschkis' gorgeous art, which celebrates multiple languages, this new edition will introduce the youngest of readers—of English, Spanish, and both—to the legacy of one of history's most iconic talents.

This beautiful picture book tells the story of how Pablo Neruda began writing and how his writing infiltrated the world. Every illustration is infused with spanish and english words and the colors match the tone of the text. There is a note at the end of the book that offers more information and lists some of his works. I do wish that at least one poem of his had been included but it's too beautiful a book not to love. There's also a lot of great stuff from when he was a little kid that I feel makes Neruda relatable.

I enjoyed the story, Pablo Neruda Poet of the People. The main reason why I loved the story is because of the illustrations. One of the first lines in the book is, “From the moment he could talk, Neftalí surrounded himself with words that whirled and swirled, just like the river that ran near his home in Chile.” On each page, the illustrations include words that are whirling and swirling all over the page. Every day objects that Pablo Neruda would write about are covered in words, both English and Spanish. For example, the river in Chile is covered in words such as, azul, home, luminous, below, oval, young, and suerte. I believe that this aspect of the illustrations adds a lot to the overall story of Pablo Neruda and his love for words and writing about things he loves. The big idea of this story is to do what you love and make a difference.

This is a very good book about the poet, Pablo Neruda. He given name was Naphtali, but he changed his name because he thought it would make his father unhappy to know that he was publishing poetry under his given name. This book is an excellent resource for information on the poetry of Pablo.

I liked the book. The vibrant illustrations showed great detail when understanding his type of poetry. I was able to learn about what he loved to share with the people through his work. Pablo was an outgoing character who cared for all people. Thoroughly enjoyed the format of the book, the way it goes into great detail about his life. Great book to share with young children when teaching them about famous poets in class.

I liked this book for many reasons. First, the book included a lot of metaphors, such as, “…ferns that dripped water like tears.” These metaphors made the language more descriptive and engaging for the reader. In addition, the language was simple so young readers could understand. Secondly, the illustrations in this book are beautiful. They accurately depict what is going on in the book and provide a great amount of color to keep the reader engaged. In addition, there are words translated in Spanish and English throughout the illustrations, allowing for the reader to see the different words and understand the culture in a better way. Finally, the character in this book, Pablo, is a caring and loving character that portrays a positive role model for young readers. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and think it would be a great way to present the true story of “the poet of the people.”

With its use of flowing text throughout each illustration, Pablo Neruda: Poet of the People allow readers to learn about Pablo Neruda loves words. He spends his time writing about the things he admired rather than taking interests in other things, such as soccer. Eventually, he noticed the unjust treatment of the miners. He begins to write poems based on the miners, becoming their voice. This book is very inspirational and perfect for children to learn about Pablo Neruda's life and interests. Overall, this book is perfect to read to children during a lesson about poetry or to inspire them to tap into their inner poet.

Nefatli was a boy that lived in Chile, and he enjoyed reading books rather than playing soccer. He discovered his love for books, and when he was older he started publishing poems. He wrote about the market, nature, and people. Pablo loved people, and he noticed that the miners in Chile were not getting treated well, so he started writing poems that emphasized equal treatment for miners. Pablo’s poems gave hope for people of other nations, and he gave hope to the people of Chile. The government did not like that, so they tried to put Neruda in prison, but they could not find him because he was hiding and living in friends’ houses. The book shows Pablo’s’ life and poems, but it gives people hope to continue with life.

I had mixed feelings about this book. One reason why I like this book is the plot. The story was about a boy who loved books and the world around him so he grew up and published poems even though some people did not agree with his choices. It is important for children to see that they should do what they love. One reason why I did not like this book was the writing. At times it was hard to follow the story because it did not flow or have a good pace at times. This could discourage students from trying to read the book or from understand the meaning of the story. The meaning of this story is important for all students because every student needs to know that they should do what makes them happy even if their father or mother or friends do not like it as much as they do.

Pablo Neruda is a poet. He writes about everything around him. One day, he realizes that his fellow citizens are being mistreated and he becomes the voice of the people using his poetry. I thought the format of the poems were interesting. Each page had adjectives of the object.

Summary: Pablo Neruda was a boy who went by this fake name in order to hide that he was writing poems from his father. Pablo Neruda was born in Chile and that is where he started writing and got most of his writing inspiration. Pablo and his friends traveled around the country and shared their poems with people in order to spread awareness of writing. Pablo came back and started to write poems about many things. He got his inspiration from the things he loved, Chile, emotions he saw, the ocean and people. Pablo saw that people who were working very hard were not getting paid enough so he fought for them to have better rights. Because of this, Pablo proved to be very brave and strong to fight for what he believed in. Argument: This book is a great way to introduce children and to get them writing in a different style that they aren't as comfortable with. This book shows a boy who wasn't good at the things his friends were doing but loved reading and writing and how he succeeded because of this love. Another thing children could get out of this book is about potential topics to write about. Pablo Neruda wrote about tons of topics, some that many children wouldn't even think to write about. This book could help children think about something they love about the place they live and to write a poem about that. I can see children hearing all the things Pablo Neruda wrote about and wanting to copy his ideas that they liked.

This is a simple book that tells the story of Pablo Neruda's life. It left me wanted to know more about his life and if he was ever allowed to return to Chile. The illustrations in the book are works of art in themselves; the illustrator truly celebrates the life of Neruda on each page. I love how she mixes the Spanish and English words together in her paintings. I wish the author had included some of Neruda's poetry in the book. I think the target age is upper elementary although the story could be shared with middle and high school students as well. This is a book to share for its visual elements alone. Hopefully students will look for more books about Neruda's life to fill in the gaps.

This story is about a boy named Neftali who had a love for words. Growing up in Chile, he spent most of his time outdoors playing in the forest, horseback riding, and swimming in the river. He discovered and studied the natural world around him. When he wasn’t outside he devoured books. An inspirational teacher gave him a variety of books and in reading them he decided he too wanted to be a teacher. As a teenager he changed his name to Pablo and began writing poetry. He eventually moved to Santiago to engage in an intellectual life of books and poetry. Pablo wrote about the things he saw and loved.

I like how the artist illustrated "the play on words," through out the book. she showed how much the poet liked words by drawing objects with tons of words in them to go with the theme of the book. very interesting story of this person's life.
