When we talk about unique experiences, we mean extraordinary happenings, things that occur once in a lifetime, never to be repeated. You may find yourself in a similar situation in the future... but it’s never quite as good. And we can vouch for the fact that the two days we spent at Numanthia, with the entire winery team, headed by its director, Lucas Löwi and its oenologist, Jesús Jiménez, were simply extraordinary.
After a long trip to get there (Barcelona - Madrid - Toro) and without stopping off at the hotel first, we headed straight to one of the winery's vineyards, the terroir of La Jara, where we were warmly greeted.
The uniqueness of their terroir sets these vineyards apart, lending them their own personality and character. It is made up of ancient, humble, stony soils, that have to contend with extreme weather conditions. Despite this, the team at Numanthia manages to produce smooth, elegant wines with a great capacity for cellar ageing.
