The 100 Parker Points awarded in 2007 to Termanthia 2004 had a great deal to do with the evolution of the winery. This premium wine from the winery in Valdefinjas, a village in the province of Zamora, without any particular attraction apart from its vineyards, part of the Toro D.O., was experiencing the sweet taste of success.
This area has a long history of winemaking but had not made a name for itself until Termanthia 2004 received this accolade. From that moment on, the wine world began regarding the Toro D.O. in a different light. What were originally considered to be "hard wines" started to show the area’s potential, to gradually transform into fine wines with quality and class.
The name of the winery references the resistance that some of its vines had shown when faced with the devastating phylloxera plague and it also pays homage to the resistance that the inhabitants of the Celtiberian town of Numancia, in the province of Soria, put up during a Roman siege, in 134 B.C. Among the 150 hectares of vines, there is an exceptional 4.8-hectare vineyard known as Argujillo where true gems, diamonds in the rough, grow: old vines that are over 120 years old and pre-phylloxera in origin.
