Después de meses de negociaciones entre Corpinnat y la D.O. Cava, a mediados del mes de Enero de 2019, salta la noticia (esperada por otra parte) y todos los miembros de esta asociación se dan de baja de la denominación de origen en la que estaban integrados. Desde la D.O. Cava, según la nota de prensa que se envió el 31 de Enero, se esgrimía una cuestión de timings para no llegar a un acuerdo entre las partes, ya que, según comentaban en el mismo comunicado, el objetivo principal de ambos, la zonificación del territorio, era un objetivo compartido.

Why did you leave the Cava D.O.? What are the reasons behind this “parting of the ways”?

The nine wineries that currently make up CORPINNAT have formally withdrawn from the D.O. after months of discussions to try to find a solution that would allow the CORPINNAT collective brand to coexist with the Cava brand within the Designation of Origin.
The negotiations between the Associació de Viticultors i Elaboradors CORPINNAT (AVEC) and the Cava D.O. have been intense but went far more smoothly after Xavier Pagès was appointed President of the Cava Consejo Regulador. However, the Consejo Regulador’s last proposal for integration was unacceptable to CORPINNAT, as it demanded that we give up requirements that are fundamental to us and which would have called into question the very nature of the CORPINNAT collective brand, such as geographic delimitation, external quality audits and strict regulations of use defined by company (and not solely by product) which are designed to promote the excellence of these sparkling wines produced in the heart of Penedès.
