Autor

Rebecca Bielawski

Once upon a time in England there was a Kiwi girl. She was unsatisfied with her job peeling onions at a factory in Norfolk and yearned for a better life where she could harness her untapped artistic potential and unleash all her pent up rhymes. One day when she realized she had no tears left to cry for the onions she packed up and moved to Spain, fell in love with a handsome Systems Administrator, had two kids, became a children's author and lived happily ever after.

My son (4) enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that on the last number, before the lion gets his hair cut, there are not 10 definite strands of hair to count. On the other pages we would count whatever it is before the monkey takes it, but that's not possible with the lion. It's a small complaint, thought, because after the hair is cut we can count the hairs.*Free copy received through LibraryThing's Member Giveaway

I actually received this book in English. I wish it had been in Spanish, because I think the text would not have been so poorly written. The writing in this book was disappointing. The pictures were nicely illustrated, but no better than any college student's work. If I purchased this book for a child, I would be disappointed in the quality.

Nice and entertaining. Nice and colourful drawings, nice text going with them. Something a little different from usual.Una volta tanto delle filastrocche con soggetto diverso dal solito. Carina l'idea della scimmia dispettosa che si appropria degli oggetti altrui per stimolare la curiosità dei bambini e imparare i numeri da uno a dieci.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and Library Things, in exchange for an honest review."Monkey Stuff" by Rebecca Bielawski is a cleverly conceived, written and illustrated teaching aid, with cute rhymes used to help teach young children to count from one to ten. Certainly a cut above the average "counting" book, the author uses different animals (and a tree) on each page, with each animal "owning" the next sequential number of some item. But the precocious little monkey also happens to be something of a kleptomaniac, who steals the identified property from each animal. At the end of the book, the monkey - either by virtue of a guilty conscience or a corrective mother - returns everybody's property to them, and all the animals forgive the little monkey. The illustrations in this book, as well as the whole concept of the various animals and their property, are very well presented. The illustrations are very well done, and calculated to draw the attention of the young child being taught to count. I heartily recommend this book as a worthy addition to any young child's library.

We really enjoyed this book. The cute little monkey gets into all sorts of trouble taking things that aren't his. (you can count these on every page except for the 10 hairs on the lions head- after they are cut you can count them) In the end the monkey gives everything back and all is forgiven so that it a good lesson on the side included in this lovely counting book. While it is great for the toddlers even my 6 year old loved the illustrations and said that his favorite part was the teeth being stolen! This is a great book for little people and it would be wonderful to have in a print version (ours is digital)I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Disclaimer: Received this ebook through the ER/Member Giveaway program.Delightful book for children. I have a 2 year old and he loves monkeys (who doesn't?). The artwork was vibrant and well suited for a children's book. The writing was perfect for a young child, the rhyming structure and the fun little character himself, the monkey. The counting and catchy lines put together made the book cute and an active read with my toddler.I think this is a perfect addition to a child's library and would love to see the character continue his misadventures in future titles. Side note: I received this ebook in epub (NOOK) format and there was a readability issue where the first word of some sentences was cut off. I emailed the author and she sent me extra alternate formats and was going to look into the issue. That's the kind of responsiveness that I'd love to see from all authors and it was appreciated.

MONKEY STUFF by Rebecca Bielawski is enchanting. I loved the illustrations and the rhymes and the ending. The animals are endearing and huggable, especially the monkey. OK, I am an old lady, so I tried this on 2 pre-schooler grandchildren. They loved it, especially the pictures. I had to pry the kids off my computer and had to promise to print out a copy for them. This should really be put into print, so that the little brats could peruse it to their heart's content.Five stars

Monkey Stuff is a rhyming picture book that takes children through the numbers 1 through 10. In the story a mischievous monkey steals objects from other animals. I thought the illustrations were lovely, but wasn't fond of the story and have chosen not to read it to my four year old. The flow of the rhyme was off at times and the monkey doesn't really learn his lesson in the end, rather he just does what his mother tells him to. I prefer to stick with books that have a clear message of right and wrong if morals are going to be brought into play. If your have a younger child though, they may enjoy the pictures and story without picking up on the concept of the stealing.*I received a free copy of the eBook version of Monkey stuff from LibraryThing as a part of the Member Giveaway program with the anticipation of my review.

This book is cute enough to be a good download for your kids, and the price is decent, but it's more on the average side--I would not purchase it in paperback. The rhymes in the book don't always flow very well, but the drawings are cute and the lesson at the end is good for kids to hear.

Monkey Stuff is a cute book to help young children learn to count to ten. The illustrations are amazing as she uses both drawn artwork and photos! I think children will enjoy seeing these two media put together to make the pictures come to life. Some things I noticed with the story: 1. There are some misspelled words, as well as errors with conventions. As an educator, I want to make sure children correctly understand how to spell words and use punctuation in their writing.2. Some of the rhyming was a bit forced and unnatural. Some parts needed to be reread in order to keep the rhythm of the story smooth from beginning to end.Overall, I thought Monkey Stuff was a cute book...especially the illustrations!! Thank you for letting me read it.

The following review is based on the epub edition of the English version of Monkey Stuff from a librarything.com giveaway.--Monkey Stuff is without a doubt one of the most charming little picture books I have ever read. Not only is it educational (it teaches the numbers 1-10), but the rhymes are catchy and clever, the pictures are cute and colorful, the story is delightfully mischievous, and the humorous little twist at the end is simply adorable. My only two qualms about the book were the size of the pictures in the ebook format, which may be difficult for children to read (My sister and I were able to read it fine, but I don't have any children on hand, so I can't test it out on them), and the uncommon sentence structure used to make the sentences rhyme, which might be difficult for very young children to understand.Overall, Monkey Stuff is a delightful read, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys picture books, especially mothers and teachers with young children/students.On a related note, kudos to the author for making a Spanish and English version!

This book teaches counting from 1 to 10 while also telling the story of a sneaky monkey who steals things ... and eventually gives everything back because his mom told him to.The illustrations are cute. They are a combination of hand drawn artwork and photos. The bright blocks of solid color are perfect for kids.I thought some of the rhymes were a bit forced at times and I was not thrilled with the possibility of teaching kids how to steal so I was thankful for the ending. I think kids will really like the monkey's silliness. However with my adult logic I'm still trying to figure out how the monkey stole horseshoes off of a horse...

This book is so cute and I know children will love learning how to count and read with it. I think they will like the story about the silly monkey that plays the day away with all the animals. I recommend this book for children who can’t count or read yet as well as those that can. Thank you for this fun read.
