This small Penedès winery was founded in 1963 by the Cantabria-born Jean Leon (whose original name was Ceferino Carrión). Jean Leon was a visionary who turned his two great dreams into reality: to open the fanciest restaurant in Hollywood and to produce an exclusive wine that would delight his select clientele.

A big personality who showed strength in the face of challenges and hardships, Ceferino Carrión emigrated to the United States in 1949 in search of new opportunities. After passing through New York, he moved to California and began working at the Villa Capri restaurant, owned by Frank Sinatra, where he became friends with the celebrities and personalities of the day.
