She and her family permanently moved from the Philippines to Australia in 1997. She has authored and co-authored several non-fiction-books. She writes in English and in two Philippine languages – Pilipino (Tagalog) and her 'mother tongue' Ilocano. Her first book 'A Journey in Antipodean Land' published in 2004 was a historical account based on her research about the early Filipino settlers in Australia. She co-authored a number of Filipino community books in the years that followed. She published her first Ilocano book in 2022 (Samut-samot iti Tarikayo")- an anthology of stories about historic figures and events. She also published a Tagalog version of the book and both versions have been put out online in podcast format under the title "Mga Kuwentong Pilipino sa Tagalog at Ilocano." Her two non-fiction English works: "The Last Spirit Child" and "Seekers of Destiny" were simultaneously released in 2022. She writes a regular column in the Philippine Community Herald Newspaper in Sydney, NSW. Norma was a free lance correspondent and stringer for print media and radio outfits from 1998 until 2020.
