He has an MA in Applied Linguistics, a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). He has been teaching and training teachers since 1980 and is keenly interested in all aspects of Humanistic Education. He has specialised in using Silent Way, Suggestopedia, Task Based Learning and Total Physical Response. He is extremely interested in collaborative teacher observation and feedback as well as creating a safe and equitable learning and teaching environment. His latest campaign is to reduce the number of ancillary and unnecessary ‘skills’ language teachers are now expected to master: Critical Thinking, Mindfulness etc. which he believes are designed to mask the unwelcome truth that language teaching in its most basic form is very difficult. This volume is conceived to contribute to that movement, back to a more transparent and logical base.
