We moved back and forth occasionally. We had very little in the way of entertainment besides building playhouses out of the rocks and playing with cousins in the creek. I discovered early a love for poetry and books that could take me to places I could never imagine going. As a young mother, I began writing poems and decided to submit a few to World of Poetry in the early eighties. I received several honorable mentions and was awarded a Golden Poet Award in 1986 at Marriotts Orlando World Center by World of Poetry editor Eddie-Lou Cole. Actor Vincent Price and author Maya Angelou were speakers at the ceremony. A most memorable event.ver menos
