She was inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a Ford Foundation Fellowship from Atlanta University, presently Clark Atlanta. She received the Outstanding Student Award, the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Political Science.
Professional achievements include British Broadcasting Company interviewee, Voting Rights participant, Fulbright and Oxford Scholar, listing in the 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st. Century, member of the Alabama Political Science Association’s Executive Board, National Conference of Black Political Scientists and Mount Gillard Missionary Baptist Church, organizer and advisor to ASU’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society until retirement.ver menos
