He served as Chief Diver of the Fort Erie Underwater Recovery Unit for several years.
Among the author's notable underwater achievements: he assisted in the removal of Canada's first
underwater habitat, Sublimnos, from the waters of Georgian Bay near Tobermory, Ontario; he made
a personal record breaking 250' wall dive off the southern coast of Cuba; he has dived the U-352, a
German submarine that was sunk in 1942 in the shark-infested waters off North Carolina; he has
dived the Cristóbal Colón, a Spanish warship sunk off the coast of Cuba during the 1898 Spanish-
American War. In April 2014, he met and spoke with Mike Fletcher of Sea Hunters and Dive Detectives
TV show fame about Deep Obsession.
Mike also holds a 7th Dan Black Belt in Karate and is currently president of the Fort Erie Revolver Club.
He and his British-born wife Gloria are avid history buffs, and have made several dive excursions to
Caribbean destinations over the years, including several to Cuba. They currently reside in Fort Erie,
