S. Sriskandarajah was born in Sri Lanka. Having graduated from the University of Madras in India, he became an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1970, and worked in the Ministry of Just...ver másS. Having graduated from the University of Madras in India, he became an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1970, and worked in the Ministry of Justice as Crown Counsel and then as a Senior Legal Draftsman until 1980. Subsequently he moved to Nigeria, where he taught Law and English. Upon coming to England, he obtained a Master's degree in law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (L.S.E), and qualified as a solicitor. He then joined the Government Legal Service of the UK in which he served as a Principal Legal Officer until his retirement. Currently he is the Principal of CANDS Legal, a Solicitors firm based in Essex, England.
Whereas Mr Sriskandarajahs professional career was in the field of law, Tamil language, literature and arts have been his consuming interest. He is a poet, an experienced radio presenter and public speaker. He is a regular writer, and has contributed many articles both in English and Tamil to various magazines and journals.While working in Sri Lanka he translated many science text books and legislative enactments. In addition he has written five books, of which two are on the subject of law and the others on matters relating to Tamil ethics and the Tamil liberation struggle.
He is married with two children, one of whom is a legal practitioner and the other a medical doctor. Mrs Mathini Sriskandarajah is a well known Tamil classical vocalist.ver menos
