Dr. R. S. Jeyendran has been involved in the field of Andrology (the science of male health) with an emphasis on male reproductive physiology and male fertility since 1974. He is recognized as an expert on sperm physiology, sperm processing, semen analysis, and sperm cryopreservation.
He is a Graduate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, and received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota. His expertise led to certifications from the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) as a High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Andrology Laboratory Director (ALD).
As a researcher, Dr. Jeyendran has contributed significantly to the study of male infertility with emphasis on sperm quality. He has authored three books on Andrology, two trade books, and over 325 book chapters, reviews, publications, and abstracts.
Author’s note:
“Sperm is a most intriguing and mysterious cell. Unlike all other cells, it cannot reproduce itself; but when given the proper conditions, it alone propagates an entire species! Being involved in the study of various aspects of sperm for more than 35 years, the idea of writing a book on sperm – by a sperm – was natural and inevitable. Enjoy!”ver menos
