I enlisted so that I would have some choice of a military job. Although others who were in day-to-day combat had it much worse, the experience was life-changing. Much of my writing deals with war and its aftermath.
I wrote Making Peace With Military Post-Traumatic Stress in 2013 after seven years of service as a county veterans services representative. I explain how to file for federal benefits, with post-traumatic stress and Agent Orange-related disorders as disabilities. As I deal with these issues myself, I tell how they are disabling and how to get help.
