I love reading and have been a voracious reader all of my life. When I was a child I would make up stories in my mind, mentally rewrite the endings of books I had read or TV shows I had watched. When I was a child I would make up stories in my mind, mentally rewrite the endings of books I had read or TV shows I had watched. Sometimes I would jot down short stories but I usually tossed them into the trash or hid them away believing no one could possibly be interested. One day I opened my laptop and began to earnestly develop some of the stories, characters, plots and worlds that had been incubating in my heart and mind for years. The first book I wrote was 'Lost Wanderer Awakened'. Morna and Luca apparently had been hiding in the back of my mind for years just waiting for me to open the door for them because I wrote the first four hundred pages of their story in 3 days. [Did I mention I tend to get a little focused and intense at times? Hahaha] I went on to write many more pages about these two devoted lovers and the magical, steamy and erotic world in which they reside.
In the process, several magical worlds were woven into the tapestry of my story line and spawned three other series of books, because as Morna is so fond of saying; they really do live in a small, freaky world. The Airendell Chronicles revolve around Morna, Luca and the other Spell Weavers as well as the vampires, shape shifters, witches, so called gods/goddesses and other beings who populate the realms of Airendell. Spell Weavers and their kin guard the gateways between the mortal realm and those worlds of more ancient, supernatural and potentially deadly origins. The Airendell Chronicles will follow Morna and Luca’s lives as well as the adventures of their children, other relatives and friends as they navigate their way through the magical dominions of my imagination.
Forging Airendell made me realize this realm wasn't big enough to hold all of the souls that populated the preternatural recesses of my imagination. And so the Beast Realm Chronicles emerged. The Beast Realm is populated by many of the same creatures and individuals as Airendell but their focus is more on survival and guarding hearth and home than protecting frail mortals. Being part beast is never an easy existence. Choosing to exist among mortals makes it even more challenging. But the denizens of the Beast Realm have little choice because the purists and small minded among their own spawning clans don’t always embrace them wholeheartedly. You see most residents of the Beast Realm are not purebloods. And as in any society, among the dual natured there are those who harbor hatred and prejudice against any who are different than themselves, or dare to support the mixing of bloodlines in the name of love or even just lust.
Speaking of lust.... Noir’s Keep Vignettes explores the darker, lustier natures of the supernatural beings of my worlds. Noir’s Keep is an ultra-exclusive BDSM club that caters to non-mortals and select mortals alike. When I came up with this idea I was thinking Twilight meets Fifty Shades... but darker, all grown up, less uptight and reserved with more than just a hint of a supernatural Wild Kingdom. I already have ten novellas outlined and several rough drafts in which supernatural Immortals and mere humans alike will explore the dynamics of D/s, S&M, Bondage and many combinations thereof as they maneuver through challenges exclusive to those who live in and among the realms of the preternatural, as well matters of trust, love, lust and longing that are the territory of all sentient beings.
The final series that I am developing is one that I tentatively think of as the Stone Breakers’ Clan. In the first book of the Airendell Chronicles we met George Welborn, a Native American hunk who also happens to be an Enforcer for the Clan of Stone Breakers who protect mankind from murderous vampires, ghouls and other deadly Immortals that threaten humanity. Through several twists, turns and unexpected challenges that unfold in the Airendell Chronicles the Clan of Stone Breakers becomes inhabited by some of the very creatures that the Clan has sworn to destroy for centuries. Is this a case of allowing the fox to guard the henhouse or is it a case of the best protectors are truly the baddest of the bad-asses? This series is in early development stages but I am having a blast with it. Creating these world and dreaming up twists, turns and smokin’ hot love scenes is fast becoming one of the true joys of my life. This series is providing me with the impetus to really explore Native American sacred wisdom, mythology, history, heritage and culture as I weave my fantasy world of supernatural beings, magic and erotic love.
I am sure you didn’t fail to miss the prevailing thread woven throughout my meandering introduction to my writing... I like to write about hot, steamy, erotic love. Yeppers, I am a middle-aged wife and mom who writes love scenes that make many of my peers blush, possibly pant and yearn a bit too. Years ago I realized the truth to the old adage, still waters run deep. While I have always been very ordinary, staid and dare I say, about as ‘vanilla’ as they come, my imagination, sense of humor and willingness to embrace things different than my own background truly gives me a bit of depth that is not readily apparent at first glance.
